An Aqua Memory: Our First Venetian Chandelier Revisited
There are certain pieces that quietly mark the beginning of everything. Not with fireworks, but with a kind of magnetic certainty. This full aqua blue chandelier was one of them.
Our very first Venetian chandelier.
An aqua blue dream, suspended somewhere between sea glass and sky, with that unmistakable softness only true Murano glass can hold. It wasn’t just an object we bought, it was a shift in direction. A moment where curiosity turned into conviction.
At the time, we didn’t yet know how deeply Venetian lighting would weave itself into our world. But this piece… it had presence. A quiet confidence. The kind that doesn’t need explaining.
And then, as often happens with beautiful things, it moved on.
Recently, quite by chance, we came across it again—nestled within a series of images from the villa project in Lucca to which we had contributed.
The project itself is designed by Joris van Apers, whose work carries that rare balance between architectural restraint and tactile richness. Known for his refined use of materials, he creates spaces that feel both grounded and quietly opulent. This villa is no exception.
The chandelier has settled into its new surroundings as if it has always belonged there. There’s something very poetic about that.
In our line of work, objects pass through our hands all the time. Some you forget quickly. Others linger. Not because of their value, but because they marked a moment. A first step. A change in taste. A door opening.
This chandelier will always be one of those pieces.
