Stunning 19th-Century French Gilded Rectangular Mirror
Beautiful antique rectangular mirror from France with a ribbed frame. The mirror has a wooden frame, decorated with gesso and gilded with gold leaf. The mirror dates from about 1850. The glass is original from the time, which is why there is some wonderful foxing going on in the glass, including some glitter at one of the edges, see pictures. The frame is in a good healthy condition and has a beautiful antique patina. Original wooden back.
This antique mirror blends its 19th-century heritage with a surprisingly modern aesthetic. It can be hung either horizontally or vertically, making it a versatile and eye-catching decorative accent for any interior.
Note: The stripe visible in the glass is from the board used during photography—it is not part of the mirror glass!

All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.

The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
