Original Oil Painting "Le Thé" by French Artist Robert Savary
On hold
For those who, like us, are admirers of the vibrant works of French artist Robert Savary (1920-2000), this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of his authentic oil paintings!
Robert Savary was a renowned French colorist and figurative painter associated with the New School of Paris' "Young Painting" movement, which marked a return to figurative art in the predominantly abstract art scene of the 1950s. Throughout his career, Savary earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Prix de la Casa Velázquez in 1948 and the Prix de Rome in 1950. His works are housed in museums across France and internationally.
Savary is celebrated for his lively depictions of cityscapes, interiors, portraits, rivers, seascapes, and harbors, all rendered in a joyful, impressionistic style. His goal was to reveal the hidden beauty of everyday life, drawing influence from Gustave Courbet's realism, Claude Monet's impressionist technique, and Henri Matisse's bold use of color. His palette is characteristically vibrant and full of life.
This particular piece, titled "Le Thé," is a highly personal work by Savary. It depicts a dreamy tea setting in a charming garden, complete with cakes and snacks, and was a gift from Savary to his friends, Monsieur and Madame Peter, with "amitie" (in friendship).
The painting is signed in the lower corner and on the reverse, where the title and message are also written. It retains its original frame and is in generally good condition.
