Large Vintage The Jungmeister Aerobatic Airplane Model
The Jungmeister — Dressed to Perform
Some hobbies retire to a drawer. This one will need its own airspace!
This is a large hand-built scale model of the Bücker Bü 133 Jungmeister, the German biplane that became aerobatic royalty in the 1930s — pilots across Europe flew it to loop, roll, and generally show off in front of crowds who'd never seen anything move like that before.
This particular one has gone French for the occasion: tricolore on the tail, Olympic rings on the sides and checkerboard wings sharp enough to make a runway model blush. And we mean scale model in the loosest, most spectacular sense — wingtip to tail, this thing comes in at a proud 1.6 metres. A mantelpiece wouldn't know what to do with it. A console table would simply concede defeat.
Where to place it?
So let's be clear: this vintage model is for the ceiling. Suspended above a staircase, a dining table, or that one corner of the room that's been begging for a showstopper, it turns "decoration" into "installation." The details only get better up close. Open the cockpit and you'll find a fully kitted-out pilot, leather helmet and all, with the kind of expression that says "I have absolutely done a barrel roll." He's also entirely removable, for those who prefer their aircraft crew-free. Up front sits a genuine working radial engine — the real thing, not a prop (pun very much intended). No controller, no remote, no temptation to attempt a loop over dinner. This one has flown its last flight and is delighted to spend its retirement simply hanging around, magnificently.
Built for a collector's hands and a hobbyist's heart, this is the kind of piece that makes guests stop mid-sentence and crane their necks. Hang it low enough to admire, high enough to dream under.
Because even retired aviators deserve a grand entrance — preferably from above.
