19th Century Italian Beaded Chandelier with Sapphire Blue Drops

Sale price€2.580,00

A chandelier that knows how to make an entrance

Some chandeliers illuminate a room. Others compose an aria. This  late 19th century Italian beaded chandelier belongs unapologetically to the latter category. A confection of hand wired crystal garlands cascades from its central frame like a beaded couture gown, each strand delicately punctuated with sapphire blue glass droplets that catch the light and refuse to let it go. Bellissima.

The silhouette is quintessentially Italian. Airy yet opulent. Romantic but disciplined. A domed basket form crowned with looping crystal swags, finished with elongated blue pendants that sway ever so slightly, as if aware of their own drama. At its heart, six candelabra lights glow through faux candle sleeves, creating that warm, flattering light we all secretly prefer. Candlelight, but make it architectural.

About this type of Italian chandelier
This type of chandelier emerged in Italy in the late 19th and early 20th century, inspired by earlier Venetian and Genoese bead work traditions. Unlike the heavily gilded French models of the same period, Italian examples often favour transparency and movement. The metal frame becomes a whisper beneath layers of hand strung crystal chains, forming what collectors sometimes call a “beaded basket” or “cascading swag” model. Pieces with coloured glass accents, particularly blue, are especially coveted for the added depth and rarity.

Why do we adore it?
Because the dialogue between icy clear crystal and those vivid blue drops is nothing short of irresistible, a cool shimmer punctuated by flashes of sapphire. The theatrical draped swags fall like a stage curtain around your dining table, instantly elevating even the simplest supper to opening night. It is wonderfully versatile, equally at ease above a rustic farmhouse table as it is in a sharply tailored city interior. And then there is the light itself, filtered softly through layers of crystal so that everything and everyone beneath it looks just a touch more luminous.

This is not just lighting. It is pure atmosphere suspended from the ceiling. A little slice of glamour that turns dinner into an occasion and Tuesdays into something worth dressing up for.

Can this chandelier be used in the US?

The wiring of this chandelier has been checked. It features universal wiring designed for the higher European voltage (220–240V), but it can easily handle the lower U.S. voltage (110–120V). While the wiring is fully compatible, the bulbs must also be suitable for the lower U.S. voltage.

The chandelier is fitted with E14 sockets, a European standard similar to the U.S. candelabra base (E12). To use it in the U.S., you’ll need 110V E14-compatible bulbs, which are widely available online or at electrical supply stores in the U.S.

So to answer your question: yes, the chandelier can be used in the U.S. We do recommend having a licensed electrician install it to ensure optimal performance and safety.
