19th C French Giltwood Rectangular Mirror with Foxed Glass
On hold
Lovely example of an antique rectangular Louis XVI style mirror with foxed glass.
This beautiful antique French gold gilt mirror has the original mirror plate and wooden back cladding. The gold leaf gilding shows some slight red bole through the gilding, giving the gold color a warm touch.
The mirror frame is in good structural condition, while the glass shows foxing, yet remains in very good shape. Despite the foxing, the mirror still allows clear visibility, making it entirely usable in spaces like hallways or bathrooms. The foxing lends an appealing authentic patina to this mirror, adding to its charm.
While minor nicks, chips, and cracks consistent with its age can be observed upon close inspection, they contribute to the mirror's authentic character.

GENERAL CONDITION
Please keep in mind that in many cases we sell vintage and antique pieces. None of these pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition.
All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
