Large Majestic Louis Philippe Mirror with Shell Crest
Immerse yourself in the grandeur of this stunning antique French 19th Century Louis Philippe style gold gilt mirror. The thickly decorated frame boasts intricate leaf and flower ornaments at both the top crest and bottom corners, accentuated by pearl beading along the interior perimeter.
This beautiful antique French gold gilt mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a Louis Philippe mirror.
The mirror contains the original wooden back cladding. The mirror frame is structurally healthy and the mirror has its original mirror plate which is in a very good state. The original gilt finish of the frame is nicely worn, giving it great character.
There are some minor imperfections to the frame, as would be expected with a piece of this age and usage, but this does not in any way detract from its charm.
Note: The stripe visible in the glass is from the board used during photography—it is not part of the mirror glass! The wooden slats at the back of the mirror are there purely for protection—designed to keep the decorative elements secure during lifting or transport. Once the mirror is in place at home or on your mantel, they can simply be unscrewed and removed.

All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.

The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
