Very large majestic French 19th Century gilt wood Louis Philippe mirror with an elegantly decorated gilded frame.

This mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a Louis Philippe mirror. However, this Louis Philippe mirror has a very decorated frame, with leaf and flower ornaments on both the upper corners and the bottom corners. The frame features pearl beading on the interior perimeter.

The mirror contains the original wooden back cladding, showing the stamp of the company that made the mirror in Toulouse, ca. 1850: Glaces & Tapis, Rue Saint Etienne 12, Toulouse.

In many case we don’t know who the pervious owners of the mirrors are that we are selling. With this mirror we do know! As we collected the mirror ourselves from a wonderful maison close to Carcassonne in the South of France, that we always call “the pink house” (See the picture).

It is not often to know the exact history of a mirror and to find such a wonderfully well-preserved example!

The glass is authentic to this mirror and in general good condition.
