Louis XVI Directoire Giltwood Mirror
18th Century French Louis XVI Directoire Carved Giltwood Mirror. Also called a wedding or ‘mariage’ trumeau mirror.
Mirror from France, hand-carved in gilt wood, from the LouisXVI Directory era or period, in the upper part carved in the shape of musical instruments, which symbolizes the arts or a harmonious marriage. On its sides and surrounding the frame, carved wood represents palmette motifs. It retains a very nice vintage patina.
Wooden back with old antique glass. Circa 1780. The looking glass is original to this mirror and has a delightful sparkle and distressed worn patches, this is all part of the mirrors authentic look, giving this mirror extra charm.
There are some minor imperfections to the frame, as would be expected with a piece of this age and usage, but this does not in any way detract from its charm.

GENERAL CONDITION
Please keep in mind that in many cases we sell vintage and antique pieces. None of these pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition.
All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
