Oil painting picturing a narrow street or alleyway in Brussels with houses and a small grocery stand with two ladies.

The painting is signed by F. Jorwitz. Ferdinand Jorwitz was a painter who lived in Belgium (1897 – 1979). He was a painter of landscapes, still life paintings and flowers. He often paints the landscape of Brabant in a melancholic way and the old parts of Brussels. Often by his hand are still life paintings with gloomy backgrounds and warm and faded tones.

The painting is framed in a 1950s-60s style frame with glass. The painting probably dates from the mid century as well.

The frame is signed on the back: Impasse des Quatre-Livres, Brussels
