This elegant, antique gilt mirror would make a charming addition to an entryway or powder room. Crafted in Southern France, circa 1850, the rectangular Provincial mirror is heavily carved with design elements of the Rococo and Baroque style.
The frame is decorated at the top with a small carved shell rocaille flanked with floral and leaf motifs and both sides are embellished with carved leaf decor as well.
This mirror features the original antique glass and wood backing for structure. This ornate Louis XV Provencal mirror is in a good condition commensurate with age and use and adorns its original patinated gold leaf finish. The gold leaf gilding of the frame shows some slight red bole through the gilding, giving the gold a warm touch.
This mirror needs to be hung – the small wooden block we attached to the mirror so it can stand on the flo0r without damaging the bottom part of the frame.
The mirror plate shows some scratches, see pictures. They are difficult to catch on the photographs.

Condition & Photography
Please keep in mind that we only sell vintage and antique pieces and none of our pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
