Majestic Antique Gilded Mirror
Very large majestic French 19th Century gilt wood Louis Philippe mirror with an elegantly decorated gilded frame.
This mirror has the typical rounded upper corners that make it a Louis Philippe mirror. However, this Louis Philippe mirror has a very decorated frame, with leaf and flower ornaments on both the upper corners and the bottom corners. The frame features pearl beading on the interior perimeter.
The mirror contains the original wooden back cladding, showing the stamp of the company that made the mirror in Toulouse, ca. 1850: Glaces & Tapis, Rue Saint Etienne 12, Toulouse.
In many cases we don’t know who the previous owners of the mirrors are. With this mirror we do know! As we collected the mirror ourselves from a wonderful maison close to Carcassonne in the South of France, that we always call “the pink house.”
It is not often to know the exact history of a mirror and to find such a wonderfully well-preserved example!
The glass is authentic to this mirror and in general good condition.

Condition & Photography
Please keep in mind that we only sell vintage and antique pieces and none of our pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
