Product info
Early 20th century red & white hand beaded African ceremony chair.
One of the most fun and decorative items we have ever had in our store, is this beautiful beaded chair. And don’t be shy to sit on it, because it is actually quite comfortable.
These types of chairs were traditionally created for the Yoruba tribe kings and queens and are embellished with thousands of glass beads applied to fabric covers, which are then stitched or glued onto the chair frame – resulting in an exotic chair covered in elaborate beading. It takes approximately 12 to 14 weeks to add these tiny beads to a single chair.
Wear consistent with age and use. Normal wear from use, some minor areas where beads are missing (see detail images) but since they are so small, it appears natural and normal. Solid and comfortable. A furniture piece that is truly an art piece as well.

Condition & Photography
Please keep in mind that we only sell vintage and antique pieces and none of our pieces should be considered new or in perfect condition. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use. We restore our pieces so they will be clean and in a good working condition. However we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
The physical object can differ slightly in colour from the object as presented online. We have made every effort to display colours accurately, but cannot guarantee that the pictures accurately reflect the colour of those goods in real life.
