German terrestrial globe by firma Räth, 1930s.

The perfect antique accessory for the worldly gentleman’s study bookcase or a library, this antique German globe was created at a time when the gentleman cruised about the world in luxurious ocean liners, and conversed about their travels with the aid of this mapped representation of the world as it was known then.

Original cast iron tripod base provides stable and stately support. Good condition.

The Räth firm was established in 1917 by Paul Räth (1881-1929). After his death the firm was acquired by Professor Doktor Arthur Krause, a Leipzig geographer. The firm still exists today.
